Cehnice – a picturesque South Bohemian village near Strakonice, Vodňany, Písek and České Budějovice. Its surroundings have been shaped for millennia by the nearby Otava River. Towards the south, the landscape slowly rises to the mighty hills of Šumava, and towards the east, the levels of numerous ponds in the vicinity of Kestřany and Písek flash. The village has a grocery store, a restaurant, a school, a football field, and a social hall. Various federal and municipal events are held here throughout the year. You can witness a carnival parade and a summer pilgrimage here. You can also explore the surroundings thanks to the cycle path No. 1072 from Čeřovice to Sudoměř.
The pension was built by the current owners on the site where the family's ancestral farm stood. There was not only a residential house on the property but also several outbuildings, such as a barn, sheds, and stables.
Between 2000 and 2004, a building complex was built here, designed by Ing. Arch. Zbyněk Skala, which follows the original rural architecture. It formed not only the former farm No. 20 but also most of the houses in the village. The foundation of the boarding house was created on the site of the original residential building when they took as their ideas that the historic house could be reconstructed and added to. The new building thus preserves the street line of the village; only it was extended compared to the original length to today's 36 meters. It closes off the entire area for guests from traffic and views from the street.
The group of buildings on the vast plot of land also includes a similarly designed residential house of the owners' family, buildings of several garages, an extension of the sauna, a wine cellar, and a wood storage. Above all, a uniformly conceived arrangement of the garden, pool, and numerous walls and terraces, where all the stone from demolished buildings and barns came into use. In a new and modern guise, the legacy of many generations who linked their lives with farming in this region speaks here. The owners do not forget this legacy, and the walls of the guesthouse are a reminder of the historical photos of musicians who, for years, went out into the world from Cehnice and nearby villages, where they mainly performed their art in circus bands.
